In her piece in The Parliament Magazine, NMWE Secretary General Patricia Fosselard evaluates the measures to reduce packaging waste in the European Commission’s proposed Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). While the proposal lays important ground for a more circular economy, more needs to be done to provide an enabling framework for producers to fully close the loop on their packaging.

To meet ambitious recycling targets and protect SMEs, measures should take a more flexible approach to reuse and enable access to recycled PET through Deposit Return Systems (DRS).
