14/10/2024.- NMWE is proud to announce the launch of the new LCA tool, developed in partnership with Pilario. This initiative is part of NMWE’s commitment to supporting our members, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), on their journey towards sustainability.
Although environmental assessments can be complex and resource-intensive, this tool has been specifically designed to support companies, particularly SMEs. By providing accessible and reliable technology, NMWE ensures that all members can take meaningful steps towards reducing their environmental impact.
Built around EU-recommended Environmental Footprint methods, the tool evaluates a wide range of environmental impacts beyond carbon emissions, including water use, resource depletion, land use change and eutrophication.
What sets this LCA tool apart is its sector-specific design and ease of use. It incorporates comprehensive data from the PET and glass supply chains, offering users a robust and consistent framework with which to assess their environmental impact. Importantly, the tool also supports benchmarking, enabling companies to compare their performance with anonymised industry averages — a valuable feature for SMEs and larger companies alike. Even the bigger players, many of whom already have their own internal LCA tools, will benefit from the tool’s consistency and its ability to provide sector-wide benchmarking.
This project reflects NMWE’s broader mission to equip our members, particularly SMEs, with the practical tools and guidance needed to transition towards environmental excellence. As more members adopt the tool, the whole sector benefits from improved data consistency, collaboration and measurable progress towards shared sustainability goals.
