19 June 2025.- From 17 to 19 June 2025, Natural Mineral Waters Europe (NMWE) held its annual meetings in Málaga, bringing together members and experts from across the continent. Organised in collaboration with our Spanish member Asociación de Aguas Minerales de España (ANEABE), this gathering was the most important forum of the year for setting priorities and taking collective action within the natural mineral and spring water sector.
With representatives from more than 15 countries, the event provided a vibrant meeting point for associations, companies, institutions and experts to discuss about the future of the industry.
This year’s programme explored strategic items essential to the sector’s resilience and sustainability:
- Water resilience: discussions explored how to translate policy into action, with input from policymakers, scientists, and biodiversity experts.
- Packaging circularity: Participants shared successful models and experiences in setting up efficient deposit return systems, a cornerstone of sustainable packaging.
- Protecting biodiversity and contributing to local socio-economic development: reaffirming the sector’s broader environmental and societal value.
- The rise of AI in public affairs: examining how artificial intelligence is transforming advocacy, engagement, and communication.
- Strengthening our collective voice in Europe: Reinforcing alignment and advocacy to ensure a strong and unified sectoral presence in Brussels and beyond.
The programme was enriched by expert contributions from EU institutions, research organisations, environmental NGOs and industry leaders, creating a well-rounded, forward-looking discussion.
As NMWE Secretary General, Patricia Fosselard, noted: “Every annual meeting is unique, but they all have one thing in common: we leave feeling richer in terms of knowledge, connections and shared purpose.”
The NMWE Annual Meetings are more than just a gathering; they powerfully reflect the sector’s shared ambition to protect what is essential, embrace new realities and take purposeful leadership in Europe’s green transition.
Our time in Málaga also served as a welcome reminder of the joy of reconnecting face-to-face with colleagues and friends, providing a refreshing break from the routine of virtual meetings.
